About Us

Ceramika Artystyczna

These fine pieces of ceramics have been hand made in Boleslawiec (Bunzlau), a town in south western Poland, well known as a centre of ceramic art for over 300 years.

The universally appealing feature of Boleslawiec ceramics is its largely influenced by Art Deco, attractive design of simple, functional forms combining tradition with modern creativity.

All pieces are hand decorated using predominantly the 19th century stamping method and are available in over 1000 different patterns ideally suited to mix and match to create a variety of individual looks.

High quality of clay used in production allows for a high firing temperature of over 1250°C which results in extremely well glazed, hard and durable stoneware. The product is oven (but not naked flame), microwave and dishwasher safe and has excellent temperature retention properties.

Essential Linens

Why Linen?

Linen has been used by mankind since 'time immemorial'. The ancient Egyptians were able to produce surprisingly high quality linen fabric despite using relatively simple flax weaving techniques.

Nowadays linen fabric symbolises comfort, elegance and sophistication of taste and it fits perfectly with the current trend of a healthy lifestyle. Compared to other natural fabrics, flax fibres have excellent mechanical properties that make linen fabric exceptionally strong and more resistant to friction and stretching than fabrics made of any other natural fibres. In fact, it is often said "linen fabric gets stronger and looks better after every wash".

The fact that linen fabric does not generate static electricity and does not cause irritations or allergies, combined with its 'airiness', makes it suitable for use as a product that comes directly into contact with skin, particularly in hot climates.

Linen fabric also has an exceptional propensity for absorbing moisture and even after absorbing 1/5 of its weight in moisture, does not give the impression of being 'wet'.

Finally - and most importantly for the environment - being naturally grown, flax is a fully reproducible resource. It is also completely biodegradable - therefore - waste-less!

Caring For Your Linens

Please note that for the finishing of our linen products, an eco-friendly process is being used in which all chlorines and formaldehyde containing agents/compounds have been eliminated.

To prevent the natural colours from fading, we recommend using only mild washing liquids, such as wool-mix detergents, which contain no chlorine based bleaching agents.

In summary, for our decorative linen fabrics, we recommend:

  • Wash in 40°C water using only soap or wool-mix
  • Do not bleach
  • Drying flat in shade
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Iron below 200°C temperature
  • Can be dry-cleaned
